So it’s Valentine’s Day. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would have noticed the plethora of heart shaped EVERYTHING, stuffed animals, and flowers. Lots and lots and lots of flowers. Seriously, do you really think your boo wants more flowers and candy? I know I don’t but then again that’s just me. I would prefer flowers on any other day. Getting roses on Valentine’s day seems forced. If you still haven’t found the “perfect” Valentine’s gift, fear not. Here’s a perfect last minute gift ideas that may buy you some time.
Andrew, my hubby, and I have been married for a six years and together for nearly nine. We are lucky to have everything we want. But we still like to get each other small gifts, even on Valentine’s day. So, consider this idea. I thought it would be clever to give him a total of six different gifts, one for every year we’ve been married, for the next six days starting today. Now, I know what you may be thinking, “SIX different gifts?! That’s too much.”. Allow me to explain. First, I’m not getting him anything that is very expensive. I’m starting out with things I know he wants and needs equally.
Day 1 gift is a few pairs of toe socks. We both LOVE running and working out in Vibram’s FiveFinger shoes. Anyone who has ever owned a pair knows how bad the shoes start to smell if you don’t wear toe socks. Andrew goes through toe socks like crazy and I know he won’t go shopping for more until he’s completely out. It’s a small gift but I know he’ll appreciate it.
Day 2 gift is a hand made punch card for six massages, one for every year we’ve been together. Andrew thoroughly enjoys getting massages. If it were up to him, he would get one massage, once a day, every day until the day he dies… from me nonetheless. We are both extremely busy people and as much as I would love to fulfill his wish for one massage, everyday, for the rest of our natural lives, I can’t. The punch card will come in handy for him when he’s stressed out and needs to relax. And he’ll have choices. He can either get a massage from me or I can purchase one for him from the masseuse of his choice.
So, you get the picture, right? You can modify this idea for your loved one and use it for a variety of occasions, not just Valentine’s day. The delivery of the gifts can be modified as well depending on occasion. If you’re going to use this idea for Valentine’s day, you could give the gift recipient their gifts on the same time of day each day. Or spread it out. One gift per week (depending on how long you’ve been together). Feel free to use this last minute idea, modify it to make it your own, or pass it on to a friend in need. I hope your loved one enjoys all of the thought and effort you’ve put into their gift so far. Hopefully these ideas will buy you some time!
